OSTRANDER -- Root River Energy, along with its managing partner National Wind, has secured 20,000 acres of land in Fillmore and Mower counties for its proposed 300 megawatt community-owned wind farm development.

Their overall goal is to sign 30,000 contiguous acres, meaning they're two-thirds of the way there.

Minneapolis-based developer National Wind has hired Megan Sorensen as a wind farm developer. Sorensen's responsibilities will include helping manage the development of two key wind projects: the 300 MW Root River Energy project in Fillmore County, Minn., and the 300 MW Northwest Ohio Wind Energy project in Grover Hill, Ohio.

Root River Energy to Open Ostrander Office

OSTRANDER -- Root River Energy will open a new office in Ostrander as part of a project to build a 300 megawatt locally-owned wind farm in Fillmore and Mower counties.

The office will essentially be a local headquarters for the project. Root River Energy will use the office to meet a growing demand for involvement in the project and to improve services to area residents.
